about

A kinetic sculpture for two large metal dishes, ball bearings and wheelchair motors. The work consists of two identical systems each of which intermittently revolves one dish causing the ball bearing to roll chaotically within it. The title refers to the two degrees from horizontal that the dishes were mounted to prevent each ball bearing from returning to the centre of the dish. The piece was never exhibited.

This recording is edited from a 24 hour stereo recording originally made for Soundart Radio as part of their programme of 24 hour Sunday broadcasts, the microphones were placed close to the underside of the dishes and the work switched on for the duration of the broadcast.

Recorded in 2010 at The Grain Barn, Bristol.
